RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department is actively investigating an incident that occurred outside of the Merrill Elementary School yesterday and a YouTube video of the incident that was filmed and subsequently posted on social media.
At approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, Raynham Police responded to a call for a report of a disturbance outside the Lillie B. Merrill Elementary School, located at 687 Pleasant St.
Upon arrival, Raynham Police and the department’s School Resource Officer located a 38-year-old male who was walking away from school grounds. Officers spoke with the individual who had allegedly been involved in an altercation with unknown parties moments before their arrival.
Officers spoke with witnesses and searched the area for any other involved parties but were unable to locate anyone else.
No students or school staff were involved in the incident or present when the incident occurred and there was no threat made to the school.
The 38-year-old male was issued a no trespass order as a result of the incident and must stay off school grounds.
Through the subsequent investigation, Raynham Police were made aware of a YouTube video that was posted on social media that filmed part of the interaction between three individuals outside the school.
Raynham Police are actively investigating the contents of the video and the incident.
