RAYNHAM — Fire Chief James Januse and Police Chief James Donovan report that a woman was seriously injured in a crash on Route 138 in Raynham Wednesday morning.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the Raynham Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 1266 Broadway (Route 138) for a report of a crash near the intersection of Elm Street.

Upon arrival, police and fire personnel came upon a red 2002 Hyundai Accent that had collided with the back of a truck hauling a crane.

The 28-year-old Fall River woman driving the sedan was seriously injured. She was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and taken by a Raynham Fire ambulance to the Raynham Park dog track parking lot. From there she was transported via medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and the truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The woman’s vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and the truck’s rear axle was broken. The truck is owned by Bevilacqua Crane Service out of Milford.

The southbound side of Route 138 was closed while the scene was active and has since been reopened.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the woman struck the back of the truck as the truck driver was attempting to turn left into a gas station.

RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that Route 138 in Raynham has been fully reopened after being partially closed for several hours following a crash involving a tractor trailer Tuesday morning, and that a driver involved in the crash has been charged.

A fuel leak from the tractor trailer closed the northbound side of Route 138 from Elm Street to the Raynham IcePlex, for about four hours while the fuel was being cleaned up.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., the Raynham Police and Fire Departments received multiple calls about a two-vehicle crash on Route 138, near the Raynham IcePlex, 1568 Broadway.

The driver of a black BMW coup, RICKY DASILVEIRA, AGE 28, OF TAUNTON, was taken by a Raynham Fire ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Following an investigation by Raynham Police, DASILVEIRA was subsequently charged with:

  • OUI Drugs
  • Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation

DASILVEIRA will be issued a summons to appear in Taunton District Court for arraignment at a later date.

The initial investigation indicates that DASILVEIRA was driving erratically when he allegedly crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck front driver’s side of the tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer on Route 138 Tuesday morning.

Due to a fuel leak from the tractor trailer, the northbound side of Route 138 will be closed for several hours from Elm Street to the Raynham IcePlex, while the fuel is being cleaned up. Residents and commuters are asked to seek alternate routes and avoid the area.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., the Raynham Police and Fire Departments received multiple calls about a crash on Route 138, near the Raynham IcePlex, 1568 Broadway.

Upon arrival, officers located a black BMW 128 two-door coupe that had collided with the front driver’s side of a tractor trailer.

The driver of the BMW, a 28-year-old Taunton man, was taken by a Raynham Fire ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.

The initial investigation indicates that the driver of the BMW was driving erratically when he allegedly crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck front driver’s side of the tractor trailer. The cause of the crash remains under active investigation.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage. A hazardous material cleanup crew was called to the scene, along with a crew from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

PETER TRUDEAU, AGE 57, OF RAYNHAM was charged with leaving the scene of a crash after he was allegedly driving drunk on Route 44. (Photo courtesy Raynham Police)

RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department arrested and charged a man with his fifth OUI after he allegedly caused a crash while driving drunk Thursday afternoon.

PETER TRUDEAU, AGE 57, OF RAYNHAM was charged with:

  • OUI Liquor (Fifth Offense)
  • Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury (Two Counts)
  • OUI Liquor Causing Serious Injury
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle After License Revocation While Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Use Without Authority

At approximately 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Raynham Police responded to New State Highway (Route 44) near the Route 24 North on-ramp for a report of a three-car crash.

Upon arrival, officers located a Chrysler Sebring and a Nissan Sentra, both of which had rear-end damage. The driver of the Chrysler, Benvida Fall, age 83, of Taunton and the driver of the Nissan, Grace Levinson, age 67, of Fall River were both injured. They were taken by ambulance to Morton Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A witness told police that a third vehicle that caused the crash left the scene. The witness also reported that the driver of a black Ford Taurus, later identified as TRUDEAU, struck the Nissan from behind and caused the Nissan to collide with the Chrysler.

TRUDEAU allegedly got out of the Ford Taurus and went up to the other vehicles before subsequently fleeing.

The witness was able to get the license plate of the Ford Taurus and a description of TRUDEAU and gave it to police.

Officers then went to a home on Church Street where the vehicle was registered and found the crashed Ford Taurus in the driveway.

TRUDEAU was also found to be at the home. Through the subsequent investigation, it was determined that TRUDEAU was drunk and that he had been driving the vehicle. He was arrest without further incident. He declined medical attention and was taken to the Raynham Police Department for booking.

TRUDEAU was held on $20,000 bail pending his arraignment today in Taunton District Court.

The Ford Taurus belongs to a woman that TRUDEAU was living with and he did not have permission to be driving the vehicle. In 2006, TRUDEAU received a lifetime revocation of his license by the Massachusetts Department of Motor Vehicles following his fourth OUI offense.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
